Cornish branches sponsor Lifeboat Day
A packed Cornish quayside set the scene for a traditionally action-packed St Ives Lifeboat Day on Thursday 15 August with business manager, Jamie Hawke and administrator, Suzanne Tanner, from W J Winn Funeral Directors helping the volunteers.
The Dignity business has branches in the popular holiday resort of St Ives and nearby Hayle and its sponsorship of the event donated £1,200 to this worthy cause.
The West Pier and lifeboat house were packed with a range of stalls and attractions to entertain the large crowds and the all-weather lifeboat, The Princess Royal, launched into the harbour to take part in an exciting display with a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose. As the day drew to a close the crowds moved to a local inn for further entertainment where an auction raised more than £9,500. The day had a little added drama when the crew were called out on a real rescue.
