Dignity pledge to help disabled workers
In January, Dignity was awarded the disability Two Ticks Symbol by Jobcentre Plus. The symbol identifies those employers who have agreed to meet five commitments regarding the recruitment, employment, retention and career development of disabled people.
Dignity is now authorised to display the Two Ticks Symbol on recruitment adverts, application forms and other HR literature.
Dignity has committed to:
- to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and consider them on their abilities;
- to ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss, at any time, but at least once a year, with disabled employees what can be done to make sure they can develop and use their abilities;
- to make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment;
- to take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work.
Speaking about the award of the Two Ticks Symbol, HR consultant, Julliett Fearon-knott said: "In recent years, Dignity has recruited disabled people of high ability who have brought a great deal to our company. We are delighted to be recognised for our commitment through the award of the "Two Ticks' Symbol."
