Mary O’Sullivan presents Reverend Denis Smith and the volunteers at the Church with a cheque for £1,000.
Donation supports renovation of local church
Cyril H Lovegrove Funeral Directors in Tilehurst, Reading, recently donated £1,000 towards a renovation project due to take place at St Catherine’s Church and Centre.
Funeral service arranger, Mary O’Sullivan, said: “The entrance to the church, both externally and internally, is too low for the coffins to be carried in on shoulders so there is some difficulty lowering the coffin to gain access. Therefore, it was our pleasure to donate to the Church so that they can rectify this in their renovation work.”
Reverend Denis Smith, vicar of St Catherine’s Church, said: “As part of our project to open the Church and Centre to the community, we wanted to make things easier for our local funeral directors and the kind donation will go towards making the building more accessible.”
The project to enhance the facilities at the Church and Centre is due to commence this summer.
