Funeral Director puts on his 'Blue Suede Shoes' for Marie Curie
Funeral director, Fred Davies, based at Derek Moss Funeral Directors in Houghton le Spring, recently organised a charity concert where he showcased his Elvis tribute act. The concert was held at Newbottle Working Men’s Club on Saturday 12 March and raised over £1,000 for Dignity’s corporate charity.
Fred said: "I was a professional singer for 30 years before becoming a funeral director and had a great time performing at the Newbottle Club."
Performing alongside Fred were his colleagues Fiona Ross, administration team leader and Leigh Wilkinson, funeral service arranger, who are part of an ABBA Grannies act. There was also a raffle on the night with prizes ranging from food hampers to kitchen appliances.
Sarah Colberg, corporate account manager at Marie Curie, said: "I would like to thank Fred and the ABBA Grannies for supporting Marie Curie in this way. This fantastic concert has helped to raise vital funds so we can continue to provide care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their families."
