James Crook Funeral Directors helps Church remember WWI Chaplain
When Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Kilburn wanted to commemorate a former priest who was killed in the most famous sea battle of the First World War, they turned to Dana Smith, a Funeral Service Arranger at James Crook of Kilburn for help.
The church wanted to commemorate Father Stewart Phelan who had served as RC Chaplain on board HMS Black Prince, and lost his life during the famous Battle of Jutland.
Father Terry from the church in Quex Road, Kilburn approached Dana to order a plaque for the church in honour of their distinguished former priest.
The plaque was unveiled during a ceremony held in October which was attended by descendants of Father Stewart and was presided over by Monsignor McFadden, chaplain to the Royal Navy.
Dana was also invited to help with the churches bereavement mass in November where she helped to give out service sheets, light candles for mourners and give out roses at the end of the service.
As a result of Dana's hard work James Crook has been placed at the top of the churches recommended funeral services on their website.
