Support for church's soup kitchen
Business manager, Rebecca Lambert, and funeral service arranger, Kelly Marsh, of A G Stapleford & Sons, Portsmouth, have set up a collection of food items from local traders for Buckland United Reformed Church's soup kitchen. The church relies on donations of fresh, frozen, tinned and dried food to feed up to 50 people that attend the soup kitchen on a Wednesday evening.
"Our funeral home has been collection fresh and dried food on behalf of the local traders in Fratton Road for a number of weeks now and many members of the public have been calling into the branch to drop off donations," explained Rebecca. "We have also set up a donation trolleys at our local ASDA and Iceland stores which have both been a huge success."
The trolley at ASDA was emptied in November and there was approximately £146 worth of food donated. The items were handed over to Reverend Cliff Bembridge of the Buckland United Reformed Church by Rebecca, Kelly and Community Life Champion, Tracey Smith.
